Who is This Amber Person, Anyway?

I spent a few hours on the computer today, changing the layout of "Extension of Amboire's Attic"; and since I upgraded my Flikr account, I uploaded tons of new cartoons and a few new pictures. Now I can also have more than 3 "sets", so the pictures are categorized more specifically, which I like. Let me know how you like it!

I added a new page to my Extension site - About Me. You can check out the layout on the other site - I adorned it with some pictures - but here's what I wrote:

Honestly, I've never known how to describe myself. Saying things like, "I AM funny" or "I AM easy going" never seemed right to me, just because those type of statements seem so absolute! I'm not ALWAYS funny nor ALWAYS easy going - But here are some basics. . .

I was born in 1978, was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on July 1st, 1995 and graduated 6 months early from high school in January 1996. I have 3 siblings: an older sister and brother, and a younger brother. They and my parents are all baptized Jehovah's Witnesses as well; and have added to our family 2 sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, 3 nieces and a nephew.

I married my best friend on May 6, 2000 and feel so blessed by his companionship. He's 2 1/2 years older than me and was baptized March 26, 1989. We have so much fun and so many adventures together! We also have a sweet ginger tabby cat, Jake, who unceasingly entertains us.

My favourite classes in school were English, French, Biology and band. Some of my current interests include photography, scrapbooking, languages, music (I play clarinet & flute and have expanded the type of music I listen to - I can't even categorize my preference in this regard, since I like some songs from nearly every genre out there, from classical to punk, and country to heavy metal, even the rare rap song!), writing (I used to spend HOURS of my life writing, but thankfully I've brought that under control in recent years! I still occasionally write poetry, and love to write letters to keep in touch), and collecting quotes (I plan eventually to compile them into a book).
Some interests I'd like to pursue more fully include painting, drawing, pottery, guitar, (you can't really sing along while playing *wood wind* instruments!), botany, birding, portrait photography, digitally manipulating photos, marketing a line of greeting cards, voice lessons, internet/website building, and sewing. I would love to have a big dog and a farm; but think those will have to wait till the new system!
Other activities I enjoy are camping, fishing, exploring new roads, and plants - houseplants and such.
One thing I will say is definite about myself is I have a good sense of humour. Not only does this help to lighten the moods of myself and those around me, but it helps me to cope with the less-nice aspects of life in this system!
I do not have a favourite colour. I like them all, depending on the circumstances and what it is I'm looking at!
I do not have a favourite food. I enjoy eating most things, from Brussels sprouts to Boston cream doughnuts. Although, I will admit, I do NOT like wasabi.
I do not have a favourite song or favourite movie; I have many that I like to watch and listen to. When trying to list them, I always feel as though I'm leaving some out!
I DO, however, have a favourite book! (I enjoy the Bible, of course) But aside from that, Charles Dickens' David Copperfield has got to have been the most pleasurable reading experience I've ever had. It made me laugh and cry, and dream, it creeped me out, filled me with anger, and surely gave every single one of my emotions a work out!
If you are wanting to keep up with what's going on in my life, probably my blog is the best resource for doing so: http://amboire.blogspot.com
I invite you to express any comments or questions you may have!

Amber, I noticed you would like to pursue pottery and wanted to let you know there are pottery classes here in Prince Rupert...we should get together and take one. That would be fun!

thanks Aaron - that's awesome to know. I've never taken a pottery class, so that would be really fun!
