Being unemployed and being house-bound by my knee injury has made me very susceptible to losing track of what day it is! Despite this fact, however, I've managed to accomplish a few things this week.
First, I filed an on-line application for unemployment insurance and mailed the required supporting paperwork.
Second, I added several new recipes to Extension of Ambrosia - one beverage, two side dishes, and an entree - all of them are so yummy!
Third, I attended my first physiotherapy session yesterday (which was Thursday, but I was convinced it was Wednesday!) The session went really well. First the physiotherapist asked about my medical history, specifically in reference to my injury. Then she poked, prodded, bent, measured, and moved both legs (the right one being used as a reference). At one point, I had a tremendously strong reaction to the pain she caused me, and I nearly decked her from where I was lying!
Then she gave me a simple exercise to work on for a few minutes; when she came back, she used an ultrasound machine (non-diagnosical) to help ease the pain. Which really worked, it felt amazing when I stood up and followed her to the exercise area! But then, any feelings of comfort I might have been experiencing were effectively undone when she gave me two different exercises to work on over the following few minutes!
After that, she hooked me up to the Intra Muscle system (or.. uh.. something)... 4 big suction-cups attached to a machine that, on the higher intensities felt as though it was electrocuting my leg... THAT was 15 minutes of great fun! Just before I left, she showed me one more exercise that I should do each day, and recommended that I try to come in *next* week, "at least two or three times".
Despite how well the session went, I believe it will go down in history as my first - and last - physio appointment. It cost $55, if you can believe it! And then, she recommends I go back 2 or 3 times next week?! The exercises are all ones I can do from home, so I think I'll save the $110 - $165 and maybe treat myself to a maid service while I'm couch-bound!

Yeah, it adds up pretty quick. I've never been to a physiotherapist, but I've been to a chiropractor before. I think it was $50 for the first visit, but any visits after that were cheaper. To bad physio wasn't like that.
