On the way home, we did some exploring. We drove up the Shames Mtn. ski hill road. On our way back down, we saw a little black bear. We figure he was probably a second year cub because of his size. He was so cute; I can't wait till the new system when we'll be able to interact safely with all of Jehovah's animal creations! I only managed to get a few really poor photos - kinda like "where's waldo" pics. hehe
(on a side point -- FIVE eagles just flew right past our patio windows as I was writing this!! someone's down at the point feeding them, so there's lots of activity right now - it's pretty amazing!)
Okay... back to yesterday's adventures. Next we drove down the Eskew river access road. Not necessarily a wise decision, considering we were in our car instead of our little Jeep Cherokee. Nonetheless, we made it in AND out without incident, which was humourous, because a guy in a truck got stuck and we didn't! We saw a bird with chicks in the water and got a half-decent shot. Of course I checked my bird book & did a Google image search when we got home - looks like it was a Common Merganser. I know it's not a clear shot - but just had to post it because it was my first time seeing one, AND it had its chicks with it.

Seeing all of these beautiful things makes me wish I could imitate them by drawing or painting. It's quite inspiring.
